Vice President, Education Policy Implementation
Sara Kerr is the Vice President of Education Policy Implementation at Results for America. In 2020, she co-founded EdResearch for Recovery – now EdResearch for Action – to provide education leaders and policymakers with timely, relevant, and useful evidence for addressing persistent educational challenges. Sara also founded the Invest in What Works State Education Fellowship program, a first-of-its kind network that brings senior state education leaders together to strengthen the role of data and evidence in driving more equitable opportunities and outcomes for students. Sara previously served as a Senior Advisor on Leadership and Systems Improvement at Education Northwest. Before that she was a Senior Engagement Manager with the nonprofit U.S. Education Delivery Institute (EDI), where she oversaw a portfolio of engagements with states, districts, and education organizations focused on effectively implementing priority reforms, including those focused on educator effectiveness systems and new standards and assessments. Before joining EDI, Sara served as the Chief Performance Officer with the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE), where she oversaw the implementation of Delaware’s $119 million Race to the Top grant. Sara worked as a Policy Analyst for the Council of the District of Columbia, worked with the District of Columbia Public Schools to implement its special education reform agenda, and evaluated a number of state and federally funded education programs as a research associate with the American Institutes for Research (AIR). She got her start in education as a special education teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland. Sara received her B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
